The “Sports Lovers Poll” from areyouromantic.com reveals some interesting insight into the mind of the male of the species.

The survey revealed that nearly 30 percent of U.S. men polled think sex is better after their football team wins. The survey also said that 25 percent of the men polled would be willing to give up sex for a month if their team would win the Super Bowl.

Sex on the Beach

November 10, 2007 By: Editor Category: Sex No Comments →

(SCIENCE DAILY) 10 November 2007:

One in five young Britons say that they had sex with someone new while on vacation in another country. This has caused some concern among researchers worried about the high incidence of sexually transmitted diseases among the young.

The puzzling thing is that more than half of those who went abroad for such brief relationships said that they actually had sex with other Britons while there.

It’s interesting that these young Brits flee the country looking for love and find that the only people prepared to take them is other Britons.

Sexual Preference and the Worm Brain

October 25, 2007 By: Editor Category: Gender Roles, Science, Sex No Comments →

(MSNBC.COM) 25 October 2007:

Sexual orientation seems to be wired into the brains of nematode worms, and tweaking this sexual wiring can result in worms attracted to members of the same sex.

“The conclusion is that sexual attraction is wired into brain circuits common to both sexes of worms,” said researcher Erik Jorgensen, scientific director of the Brain Institute at the University of Utah and an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

“We cannot say what this means for human sexual orientation, but it raises the possibility that sexual preference is wired in the brain,” Jorgensen said. “Humans are subject to evolutionary forces just like worms. It seems possible that if sexual orientation is genetically wired in worms, it would be in people too.”

Egg Freezing Not Sound Technology

October 22, 2007 By: Editor Category: Science, Sex No Comments →

(MSNBC.COM) 22 October 2007:

Women who have put off having children with the idea that egg freezing technology is just around the corner may have to come up with plan B. New fertility guidelines say that the procedure remains highly experimental, even though it is being offered in some areas. While the technology for freezing sperm is sound, the egg freezing technology doesn’t work nearly as well. The reason may be because eggs contain lots of water and this makes it harder to freeze them successfully. Ice crystals form during the freezing or thawing process, which destroys the eggs in much the same way ice crystals on frozen foods destroys the flavor and texture.

Stereotypes Once Again Confirmed By Yet Another Sex Study

October 14, 2007 By: Editor Category: Sex No Comments →

(MSNBC.COM) 14 October 2007:

A survey of 5,000 men and women highlighted what men and women want from each other in the bedroom. There were all of the usual stereotypes on display: men are worried about size and stamina, women not so much about size but still about stamina, women want more foreplay while men think they’re just fine at it. We even get that old standard of most men being perfectly happy with the sex they’re getting they’d just like more of it.

And the number one cliche confirmed? Men don’t like being told about their shortcomings as it relates to the above. It affects their confidence.

Gender Bender in The Ladies Room

October 09, 2007 By: Editor Category: Gender Roles, Oddities, Sex No Comments →

(CITYROOM.BLOGS.NYTIMES.COM) 9 October 2007:

Khadijah Farmer, a 28-year-old who lives in Hell’s Kitchen, says she was at the Caliente Cab restaurant in the West Village after the Gay Pride Parade on June 24, when she left the table to go to the women’s room. While she was in there, the male bouncer burst into the bathroom.  Ms. Farmer reports that the security guard pounded on the stall door saying that someone had complained there was a man in the women’s restroom.  “Inside the stall door, I could see him. That horrified me, and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I said to him, ‘I’m a female, and I’m supposed to be in here.’ After I came out of the bathroom stall, I attempted to show him my ID to show him that I was in the right place, and he just refused to look at my identification,” reported Ms. Farmer.  on Ms. Farmer’s behalf, the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court in Manhattan against Caliente Cab, asserting that she was the victim of gender discrimination.

Isiah Thomas Guilty of Sexual Harassment

September 27, 2007 By: Editor Category: Celebrity, Culture, Sex, Sports No Comments →

(SPORTS.YAHOO.COM) 2 October 2007:

A federal jury decided Madison Square Garden and its chairman must pay $11.6 million in damages to former New York Knicks executive Anucha Browne Sanders in her sexual harassment lawsuit.

The jury, which decided MSG had committed harassment against Browne Sanders, found that the Garden owes $6 million for allowing a hostile work environment to exist and $2.6 million for retaliation. MSG chairman James Dolan owes $3 million.

The Garden said it would appeal.

A verdict earlier Tuesday found that Knicks coach Isiah Thomas subjected Browne Sanders to unwanted advances and a barrage of verbal insults, but that he did not have to pay punitive damages.

After an ugly, three-week trial, that verdict gave Thomas a partial victory in the $10 million lawsuit.

Teenage Boys Left Out of Mix

September 22, 2007 By: Editor Category: Health, Science, Sex No Comments →

(HINDUSTAN TIMES) 22 September 2007:

A survey has shown that rates of sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia are more common in teenage girls than in women in their twenties. Also, that the same diseases are more common in men in their twenties than teenage boys.

Not surprisingly, the same survey also finds that the annual number of sexual partners is higher in teenage girls and twentysomething males than the other two groups.

The survey however, failed to make the obvious point: men do indeed tend to chase women younger than themselves, women in their 20s are more mature than their male counterparts and nobody, but nobody, is, despite the interest they themselves show in the subject, interested in having sex with teenage boys.

Men and Women Are Different!

September 18, 2007 By: Editor Category: Science, Sex No Comments →

(SCIENCE DAILY) 18 September 2007

That there are differences between men and women is no surprise…the continued existence of the species makes that clear. However, researchers have been surprised at one of the differences: the way in which male and female brains react to serotonin and its absence.

When levels fall, men become more impulsive and women more cautious. That the sexes react differently is a surprise: but perhaps evolutionary psychology can help here. We expect men to be more impulsive and women more cautious anyway, so could it be that lowering the levels reveals more of the innate character? In serotonin veritas perhaps?
