Women and Heart Disease
(GLAMOUR) February 2007:
Only 25 percent of participants in heart studies are women, and only a third of new cardiovascular drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration have been tested for safety and effectiveness in female patients. The real-life consequence: Doctor’s may have to guess which heart medication is right for their female patients. US Congress representatives can help by supporting the 10Q report, which calls for more heart research funding for women.
