The iPhone is Sexist!
Quite unbelievable what some people will come out with: apparently the iPhone is sexist.
This is because you can’t use one if you’ve got long fingernails.
No, really, the iPhone is sexist:
I want an iPhone with Stylus!!! My husband LOVES his iPhone, but with fingernails, I find it frustratingly difficult to use the keypad. I have an older iPAQ to use for minor online functions, & I don’t even need to use it’s stylus: just tap with fingernail & it’s gold!
So, when my cellphone broke last week, I waited - patiently, G*D**IT! - wishing & hoping that Apple in it’s infinite goodness & wisdom would just open up a stylus option when they made the big announcement of 2.0 & 3G today. NO LUCK!

Considering ergonomics & user testing studies indicated men & women use their fingers/nails differently Over TEN YEARS AGO, why does Apple persist in this misogyny?
Sadly, you cannot use an iPhone with a stylus as it uses the electrical contact of your finger itself to register which letter you are touching.
Still this allegation that Apple is sexist, misogynist, that the iPhone itself is sexist, did spark off some gentle mockery. And more. Plus some not so gentle mockery.
All very good fun indeed to my mind, for in the end the insistence is that a particular fashion statement, long nails, is an essential part of being female. Rather than what it is, an option available to both men and women. Thus failing to accomodate long nails cannot be misogyny, can it?

If you are too big for a size 6, wear an 8. If that is too small, try a 10. If your body is too big for a little sports’ car, buy a bigger car. If you like to spray your hair up in the air with hairspray, but the style does not allow a hat you really love and your ears are freezing, try a bigger hat, or a scarf. If you are allergic to horses, do not ride horses. If regular laundry detergent bothers your skin, try hypo-allergenic.
If it bothers you that the 6 does not fit you or the sports’ car is too small, lose weight. If you want a greater hat selection, give up the hairspray. If you want to try horses even if you are allergic, try Benedryl or Claritin [but I would not advise this - horse allergies can be deathly (mine are), and you might try a mountain bike]. If you are upset that hypo-allergenic might cost more, remember: the maker of the laundry detergent did not create your sensitive skin. Just like the maker of the iPhone did not grow anyone’s nails long.
